CALL FOR PAPERS
Lecturers, teachers, researchers, policy makers, institutional representatives, social workers and experts in the field of language learning and social inclusion are invited to submit abstracts to participate in the Final International Conference of the INCLUDE Network Addressing Social Inclusion through Language Learning which will take place in Matera (Italy) on 24th November 2015.
The Final INCLUDE International Conference brings together organizations and individuals interested in the field from all over the world to share expertise and experience about promoting an inclusive European society through language learning.
We are inviting papers and posters on two major themes, which will be discussed in two dedicated workshops during the Conference:
Theme 1: Migration and Immigration
The role of language learning in supporting the integration and inclusion of ‘established’ and ‘new generation’ migrants and immigrants in the EU.
Theme 2: Mobility and employability
How language learning contributes to promoting European trans-border mobility and supporting the EU labour market.
For both themes, we particularly welcome papers that reflect contrasting – perhaps oppositional - positions and perspectives on these issues. For example, there is currently a debate on the meaning of language learning for ‘active inclusion’ – whether ‘active inclusion’ can be defined narrowly as a means to ensure that excluded people actively contribute to improving their own life opportunities, or whether ‘active inclusion’ can be more broadly defined as a ‘holistic’ approach to social inclusion.
Our vision for the Conference is to promote stimulating, challenging debate and the exchange of knowledge that covers different philosophical and methodological traditions, and different application areas – including research, policy and practice.
Deadline for abstract submission extended to
15 October 2015
